WELCOME TO DEL RIO CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOL
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Del Rio Continuation High School. I hope this finds all of you rested and ready for a new year. We are looking forward to seeing all of our students on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
Back to School Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 5:30pm. I hope to see all parents and students, new and returning, on this night. This evening will provide families an opportunity to walk through classrooms, talk to teachers, and learn about plans for the year.
We will continue to run two sessions this year. First Session is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 11:05 a.m.. Second Session will begin at 11:40 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m.. Post cards have been mailed out to students with their assigned session. If you have not received notification, please call the Del Rio office at 462-4350.
There has been a change in the district bus transportation routes and times, please refer to your post card, and the district website for specific stops, routes, and times. If you have any questions, please contact the school or the transportation office at 462-4250.
Del Rio continues to have high academic standards, and offers an alternative educational environment for students. It is our goal that our students will excel in the areas of Attitude, Academics, and Attendance. Even in these tough budget times, our staff continues to be committed to the success of our students. The dedication of the students to succeed and to accelerate their credit accrual continues to be a valuable part of our campus structure. Students will still be able to accelerate their credits through the “menu work” process, and staff will work with them to see that their efforts are supported and rewarded.
I am happy to announce that all of our teaching and counseling staff will be returning this year and we are excited to see Karla Knuckles back in the office.
I encourage parents to get involved with the school. Please consider volunteering on campus, serving on the School Site Council, and using your talents to assist us in providing the best learning opportunities for our students.
In closing, I would like to thank our custodian, Nick Downs, the many members of the district maintenance crews, clerical support staff, technology support staff, food service and transportation for the hard work they have done this summer to prepare our school for the beginning of the school year. They make a productive team, and each one of them plays an important role. They continue to help create a positive and cheerful environment for our staff and students.
Together, we can make it a great year!
